A book club for only one book
i remember coming across a joke somewhere and it went a little like this:
what is it called when a book club only reads one book the whole time?

i grew up in a higly conservative branch of christianity
particularly seventh-day adventist
which is, in essence, a cult (though adherants will argue the contrary)
but i cultivated a habit of reading during this early period,
mainly because they have a prophetess which wrote a ton of books (some contrarians
claim plaigerism while adherants claim she was following writing practices of the time).
Animorphs was a book series I enjoyed reading as a kid but my mother did not like that I was enjoying it, so, she got the pastor’s wife at her local church to reprimand me
and tell me to consider books that are more christ-like in nature.
with the authority granted to me from an unfished degree in theology
i can say with confidence
that even the bible
that compilation of 66 books
could consider lightening the tone and be
more christ-like in nature.
